The Meeting That Could Have Been an Email

Every Thursday at 2pm, seven of us gather in Conference Room B to discuss what we accomplished since last Thursday.

This meeting has been on the calendar since 2019. The original organizer left in 2021. No one has cancelled it.

Last week, four of the seven attendees sent updates via email before the meeting. The meeting proceeded anyway. We read the emails aloud. Then we discussed what we had just read.

At 2:43pm, someone said, "This could probably be an email."

There was a pause.

"Sure," said someone else. "But then how would we know everyone got it?"

The meeting runs until 3pm. It has always run until 3pm. I do not know why 3pm is the end time. I was not there when the meeting was created. I will probably not be there when it ends.

I have started bringing a notepad. Not to take notes. Just to have something to look at.
